How to Drink Essential Oils the Right Way
Essential oils can help you lose weight, strengthen your immune system, and expel toxins, but reckless consumption of EOs is actually fairly unsafe. Although essential oils are not technically oils, they still don't dissolve in water, meaning that even if you use a few drops of lemon EO to flavor an entire pitcher of water, you're probably going to drink most of the oil in one sip. As you may guess from the fact that undiluted lemon EO can clean floors and strip paint, this is not as good for your body as you might have hoped.
Luckily there are easy ways to get the benefits of ingesting essential oils without the risks, so long as you're careful and do your homework. Essential oils will dissolve in fat, so one easy way to make them safe is to dilute them in oil or melted butter before cooking. Or, if you're on the go, a few drops can be easily emulsified into a smoothie by your blender-- we actually have a whole book on the subject. Just be sure to use a recipe from a trusted source, and know what you're doing beforehand. Essential oils can be a magical source of benefits; it all depends on how you use them.
